Happy Christmas to all our readers and best wishes for #2018!

mrs santaHolidays are almost here! The kids finish school soon and the recent snow (or ice, as it was in Little Cashington) lent a festive backdrop to the organised chaos that is Christmas and the finale of the year.

Skinted Minted Mum will also be going on a short break after Monday’s newsletter. We will return in the New Year ready for “back to school” and all those resolutions after a little holiday indulgence. Here’s hoping that 2018 brings us all a little health, luck and prosperity.

While 2017 has had its (un)fair share of turbulence and disasters, it’s been a great first year for Skinted Minted Mum. We officially launched in January and since then we’ve produced four blogs and one newsletter a week pretty much every week (phew!) bar the SMM summer sojourn. We’ve been bringing you need-to-know updates on personal finance, hot tips and tricks for saving money as well as tall tales of our own (sometimes hilarious) experiences with household budgeting.

The wider community also appears to have embraced us seeing as we’ve featured in the Daily Telegraph, the Mirror and the Mail on Sunday, as well as appearing on BBC Breakfast. We also picked up a SHOMO for Best Personal Finance Blog at the UK Money Bloggers awards in September.

More rewarding than all these successes, however, has been the interaction we’ve enjoyed with SMM readers. It’s wonderful to see your reactions to blogs or the newsletter, especially when you’ve saved on a deal, want to highlight malpractice or just want to sound off about bad service. Thank you and keep those comments coming. Thanks are also very much due to other media, finance firms and particularly to all the other money bloggers who have offered us so much help and encouragement.

We’ll be back in January with some new features for the site and, of course, your favourite blogs and newsletters. Have a great Christmas and a fabulous start to 2018!
