THINGS TO DO THIS WEEK:
Think about remortgaging. There are good deals on offer if you’re willing to fix rates in the long term. The number of 10 year deals available has increased from 16 to 150 in the last five years, says Moneyfacts. Given the current economic uncertainty, it might be a good idea.
Spend Patisserie Valerie vouchers. The firm has gone into administration and is closing branches so you might have to travel to use any gift cards or vouchers you received for Christmas.
Submit your tax return. About 3.5 million taxpayers are yet to do this, HMRC reported at the weekend - are you one of them? Submit the online form and pay the tax due by this Thursday or donate £100 to HMRC.
Sainsbury’s Bank Dual Offer Credit Card with 0% interest on purchases and balance transfer for 28 months. WE LIKE: Long 0% period on both purchases and balance transfers, no monthly fee. Earn Nectar card points on spending. WE DON’T LIKE: Balance transfer fee is 3%. 0% cards only work if you use the interest-free period to pay back the debt in full. After the 28 months is over, the interest rate rises to a much higher 20.95%.
DEALS OF THE WEEK:

Alternatively, Vodafone customers can just download its MyVodafone app and get two Odeon tickets per week, on any day of the week, for £7.
Get a fake tan for free by signing up to be a VIP product tester with St Tropez. Fill in your details and get sent two of four products to test. WARNING: you must submit your address and email and will probably be sent junk marketing for ever...
With half-term on the horizon, an Easter egg hunt tickled our fancy at SMM HQ. Can you find a white chocolate Cadbury Creme Egg? Some are hiding online or instore at various brands including Benefit. Find one and get to eat it as well as get the chance to enter a competition to win £10,000.

More trouble for the high street as Santander announced it will slash its network by a fifth and close 140 branches. Since 2010, 6,000 bank branches have closed. Access to cash doesn’t seem to be a problem with household spending in 2018 at its highest level for 12 years: the typical household lashed out £572.60 a week. Unsurprisingly the amount of savings was at its lowest-ever level, with households typically putting away just 4% of disposable income.
Finally, yet another gas and electricity supplier, Our Power, with 38,000 customers, has shut up shop. Will the last energy company left please turn out the lights?

Don’t shell out for expensive tickets to this year’s top art and design shows such as Bonnard at the Tate or Dior at the V&A. Just go to their gift shops and look at the postcards: much cheaper and you won’t have to dodge selfie-snapping rubberneckers either.
